Neighborhood Guide (Social Distance Edition): Highland Park

As the current state of the world continues to get even stranger and a little more tough, we’re still finding joy in staying connected with family, friends and some of our favorite local businesses in our favorite Eastside neighborhoods. Not all of the places we admire are able to be open for business at the moment, but here are a few in Highland Park that we like to support during this time. Each one is currently offering pickup, delivery and/or social distancing service of some sort (check their websites, linked below, to see!).

There are so many great local spots to choose from. Let us know if there are any you’d like us to add! And stay tuned for some favorites in the other Eastside neighborhoods, as well.

HomeState

HomeState tends to be a bit of a mainstay for us – actually, we have trouble finding tacos and margaritas we don’t get along with. But it’s hard to beat their Texas-inspired tacos (for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner) and uber refreshing cocktails. Be sure to give ‘em a whirl, if you haven’t yet.

Town Pizza

As much as we love tacos and margaritas, we might love pizza even more. You could say we’re pizza connoisseurs, and we’re definitely regulars of Town. They specialize in pizza (as in, pizza only on the menu) and they’ve got all the options…bonus: they just started delivering wine & beer, as well.

Kindness & Mischief Coffee

We all know there’s no shortage of coffee shops in LA, but this fun little spot on Figueroa has some unique options (butterbeer latte, anyone?), and they’re offering lattes by the jug (we tend to run thirsty), plus the staff is super friendly.

The Hermosillo

This spot has a great selection of hard-to-find wine and beer, and some of the best bar snacks on the Eastside. An easy go-to for a chilled out evening or weekend hang. Truthfully, we love all of Dustin Lancaster’s places.

Gimme Gimme Records

We all need a little more music at home these days, and if you’ve got the device to spin the vinyl, this is a good spot to boost the collection. Perhaps some funky jams for the holidays?
